Mark your calendars with a greasy thumbprint: Bacon is about to have its day. Sept. 5 is the second annual International Bacon Day, a holiday created by a pair of bloggers called the Bacon Boys. Recipes, party ideas and more at internationalbaconday.blogspot.com. And Chicago, hog butcher to the world, will hold its Baconfest Chicago Oct. 25 at Stan Mansion, 2408 N. Kedzie Ave. Artisan bacon, contests, bacon-related cultural events — cultural events? — and bands. There’s also the VIP Pro Cookoff on Oct. 24 with a dozen of Chicago’s top chefs competing for the coveted Golden Rasher.
